Reminder to those struggling with anxiety, depression, or any type of mental illness that you are not alone. You are wanted. You are necessary. You are loved.
Mental health awareness is an issue close to my heart, and I think it’s something that hits home with a lot of people. In our society, people dish out the word crazy left and right and attach so much stigma to mental diseases that affect so many individuals. It’s an issue that is highly misunderstood, so I encourage each and every one of you to educate yourselves on the subject because you never know who in your life is affected by it.
One of my favorite aspects about the YA genre is that there are so many books with characters that address these issues. Here’s a short list of books that portray mental health issues pretty accurately and honestly:
- All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
- Under Rose-Tainted Skies by Louise Gornall
- A World Without You by Beth Revis
- Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella
